THE WILL OF GOD
Congregation Follow-Along Outline
Main Thought:
God desires for us to know His will, follow His will, and work together in His will.
1. GOD'S WILL ON EARTH
The Lord's Prayer
Matthew 6:9-15 | Luke 11:2-4
“Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
- We begin by worshipping and acknowledging God.
- God is seated on His throne and is the head of His Kingdom.
- God's will is accomplished on earth as God's people know and obey His will.
- God's plan for our lives is better than our own plan.
Ask Yourself:
Am I asking God to bless my plans, or am I seeking to follow His plan?
A. TRUST GOD AND ACKNOWLEDGE HIM
Proverbs 3:5-7
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
Four Conditions for Knowing God's Will
1. Trust in the Lord with All Your Heart
Are you ALL IN for Jesus?
Faith includes:
- Trusting God
- Believing God and His promises
- Having confidence in God
- Acting on what God tells us to do
Hebrews 11:6
Faith is active!
Question:
What is God asking me to trust Him with today?
2. Lean Not on Your Own Understanding
- Do not depend only on your own intellect.
- Humble yourself and ask God for direction.
- Allow God to guide your thoughts and decisions.
- Use the mind God gave you, while allowing Him to lead you.
Question:
Am I relying more on my own understanding than on God's direction?
3. Acknowledge Him in All Your Ways
Include God in:
- Big decisions
- Small decisions
- Every area of life
Make Him the Lord and Boss of your life.
The Result:
“He will direct your path.”
God shows us:
- Which way to go
- Obstacles ahead
- Areas of danger
- The safe path forward
Jeremiah 29:11-13
God has plans to give us:
- Hope
- A Future
Promise:
When we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him.
4. Do Not Be Wise in Your Own Eyes
- Stay humble before God.
- Fear and respect the Lord.
- Turn away from evil.
- Protect your relationship with God.
B. OFFER YOURSELF COMPLETELY TO GOD
Romans 12:1-2
“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice... Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
Four More Keys to Knowing God's Will
5. Become a Living Sacrifice
Offer yourself completely to God.
True worship is more than words—it is giving God:
- Our lives
- Our decisions
- Our gifts
- Our talents
- Our future
6. Do Not Conform to the World
Do not allow:
- Peer pressure
- Culture
- Other people
to squeeze you into their mold.
Question:
Am I doing something simply to fit in, or am I following God?
7. Be Transformed by Renewing Your Mind
Allow:
- God's Word
- God's ways
- The Holy Spirit
to change the way you think.
Philippians 4:8-9
Think about things that are:
- True
- Noble
- Right
- Pure
- Lovely
- Excellent
- Praiseworthy
Then put God's Word into practice!
8. You Can Know God's Will
Romans 12:2
You can test and prove God's:
- Good
- Pleasing
- Perfect Will
God's will is not reserved for a select few.
God wants YOU to know His will for your life!
Your:
- Gifts
- Talents
- Abilities
- Passions
can fit into God's plan for you.
C. BE FILLED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD'S WILL
Colossians 1:9-14
“We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives.”
The Holy Spirit helps us:
- Know God's will
- Understand God's will
- Apply God's will
The Results of Knowing God's Will

Do I want my life to please God in every way?

GOD'S WILL AND THE BODY OF CHRIST
When each believer knows and follows God's will:
We Move From Addition to MULTIPLICATION!
The Holy Spirit is not directing each believer to simply do their own thing.
We are:
ONE BODY
Different parts...
Different gifts...
Different callings...
But working together toward God's purposes.
THE POWER OF UNITY
Psalm 133
“How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!”
Unity brings:
