The Apostolic Church, Revival & Awakening

Continuing What Jesus Began to Do and Teach

Acts 1:1

1. The Apostolic Church

Apostolic is more than a name.

An apostolic church reflects:

  • Pattern
  • Power
  • Mission
  • Life

Key Thought: Jesus’ physical body ascended, but His mission did not.

My Notes:

Revival → Mission → Awakening

REVIVAL

God breathes fresh life into His Church.

APOSTOLIC MISSION

The revived Church is sent into the world.

AWAKENING

Cities, regions, and cultures are transformed.

My Notes:

2. The Apostolic Church Is Missional

Acts 1:8

“You will receive power… and you will be My witnesses.”

Jerusalem → Judea → Samaria → Ends of the Earth

The Power of the Spirit Has a Destination

Dunamis = Power • Ability • Miraculous Capacity

The Spirit empowers us to:

  • Reach Cities
  • Influence Regions
  • Serve Nations
  • Send Sons & Daughters

Question: Where is God sending me?

My Notes:

3. One Heart & One Mind

Acts 2:1–4 • Acts 4:32

  • One Lord
  • One Faith
  • One Mission
  • One Heart
  • One Spirit

Key Thought:
Apostolic power flows through apostolic community.

My Notes:

4. We Make Disciples—Not Just Converts

Acts 2:42

Conversion → Community → Discipleship → Mission

The early Church devoted themselves to:

  • Teaching
  • Fellowship
  • Communion
  • Prayer

Key Thought:
We want Christ formed in people.

My Notes:

5. The Apostolic Church Prays

Acts 1–2 • Acts 4:31

Before the public outpouring, there was the hidden prayer meeting.

Key Thought:

Prayer that shakes the Church can shake a city.

My Prayer:

6. The Apostolic Church Is Holistic

Acts 6:1–7

Word + Deed
Prayer + Service
Spiritual Power + Social Responsibility

We:

  • Preach the Gospel
  • Care for the poor
  • Minister to the whole person

My Notes:

7. Disruption Becomes Mission

Acts 8:1–4

Persecution → Propulsion
Disruption → Deployment
Scattering → Gospel Expansion

Remember:

The enemy scattered the Church—God scattered the seed!

My Notes:

8. Nothing Can Stop the Gospel

  • Cultural upheaval cannot stop it.
  • Political turmoil cannot stop it.
  • Economic uncertainty cannot stop it.
  • Persecution cannot stop it.

THE GOSPEL KEEPS ADVANCING!

My Notes:

9. Multiethnic & Multivocational

Acts 13:1–3

Antioch demonstrated:

  • Different Ethnicities
  • Different Cultures
  • Different Backgrounds

ONE MISSION

Key Thought:
The Kingdom advances through the whole Body of Christ.

My Notes:

10. The Apostolic Church Reaches Households

Acts 10 • Acts 16

Cornelius → Household
Lydia → Household
Philippian Jailer → Household

Strong Families → Strong Churches → Missionary Communities

We don't merely build congregations.
We build Kingdom families.

My Notes:

11. Disciples → Leaders → Churches

Acts 14:21–23

Preached the Gospel

Made Disciples

Strengthened Believers

Raised Leaders

Established Churches

Key Thought:

Apostolic ministry establishes what evangelism initiates.

My Notes:

12. The Apostolic Church Transforms Regions

Acts 19:1–20

Ephesus

  • Disciples were trained.
  • The Word spread.
  • Occult strongholds fell.
  • Culture was affected.
  • An entire region heard the Gospel.

Remember:

Revival changes the Church.
Awakening changes the city.

My Notes:

The Question Is Not Only…

How many people attend our church?

But also:

What is happening in our city because our church exists?

Are:

  • Families stronger?
  • Disciples being made?
  • Leaders being raised?
  • Churches being planted?
  • Strongholds being broken?

My Response:

An Apostolic Church Doesn't Just Fill a Building

IT FILLS A REGION WITH THE WORD OF GOD.

Acts 19:10

My Notes:

From Revival to Awakening

REVIVAL

Restores the fire of God in the Church.

APOSTOLIC MISSION

Carries that fire through the Church.

AWAKENING

Releases Kingdom impact into the world.

My Notes:

The Book of Acts Is Still Being Written

  • The same Holy Spirit is here.
  • The same Gospel is here.
  • The same Jesus is Lord.
  • The same Great Commission remains.

We Are Called to Continue What Jesus Began

Families Transformed
Disciples Made
Leaders Raised
Churches Planted
Cities Affected
Regions Reached
Nations Encountering Jesus

Let's continue to do what Jesus began to do and teach!
